First Day of Work

Boy am I tired!

Today was my first day at work and it was definitely a looong day!

I work from 10-6, so that’s a lot longer than I’m used to going to school.

Everyone at Seventeen is so nice though and I am really excited to get to know the editors and other interns there!

The office is amazing. I kept looking out the window wondering what it would be like to work in a place with such an incredible view. It’ll just take some time to sink in.

I got to do some research and even help some other departments today. I was definitely kept busy, but that’s how I like it! I didn’t take a lunch break today because I want to be a hard worker, but I realized that was a bit goofy so I’ll probably take a quick break next time.

It’s a bit overwhelming having so many new changes, but this has definitely been a dream job for me so I’m not going to waste the opportunity; I want to make the most of my time here!

I’m sleepy now, so watching Hulu then going to hit the hay.

Tomorrow I’m planning on spending the day at Starbucks and Barnes and Noble, as I have the day off. We’ll see what that brings!

Anyway, I love y’all and miss you… It was kind of sad seeing all the people put up their “last first day of class” statuses on Facebook. I wish I could be with my friends and family now too.

Love,

Krista

Today was my first full day in the city.

I think it will take awhile to adjust to the idea that I’m here for a whole semester, but for now I’m just trying to get my bearings and have fun!
We woke up and explored the area for a place to get breakfast. My mom is staying a few nights, which is awesome! We had a blast today, shopping and running around Manhattan.
My place here is spectacular. It has an awesome view of the city and is in a kind of residential area (it’s pretty safe here). There are three Starbucks’ within 2 blocks of my apartment, as well as the best hamburger place, a Barnes and Noble, a billion shops and at least four grocery stores. It’s pretty awesome. Oh and many of the stores are open till midnight on weeknights! It truly is the city that never sleeps.
We got New York pizza for dinner. And saw a cockroach in the restaurant. Ick! Somehow I wasn’t too bothered though and Kept Calm and Carried On 😉
Anyway, I love my neighborhood and new home and hopefully I’ll make a lot of friends soon!
Love and miss you all. <3

I Booked My Home!!!

Finding a place to live has been a nightmare.

Everything is way over my budget and many of the intern dorms are already full.

I am going to be living at the 92Y in the Upper East side of Manhattan and couldn’t be happier. It looks very social and like it will be a very comfortable place to live. It’s a bit far from my internship, but that’s what the subway is for, right?

It’s also just a few blocks from Central Park, so am looking forward to running there a lot.

I’ll update more about my room when I get there, I’m just relieved I have a place to stay! Now just to finish packing and seeing all my friends…

Love,

Krista

About My Internship

I will be working for Seventeen magazine, which is a part of the Hearst Corporation. I’m super excited to be in such a newsy building! There are so many different magazines there as well as television channels like ESPN and A+E.

My office is on the 17th floor (of course) and is a few blocks from Central Park.

I’ll update more once I get there!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dear friends,

Thank you for being so incredibly supportive of me as I start a new mini chapter in my life.

Most of you know that I have lived in Virginia my entire life, so moving to New York is a big step for me. You all have been amazing; people have contacted me with friends they know and can intr0duce me to, given me tips about life in the city and even helped me find a Bible study to join.

I cannot thank you enough.

Although I deleted my first blog, I am going to be posting on this one frequently to keep friends and family posted on my life. In return, please keep me up to date on yours! I always love to hear what my friends are up to and will definitely be checking in with y’all often 😉

Now I have to finish searching for a place to live… Not only am I looking for something that is within my price range, but I also have to find a place that actually has a room available! Wish me luck.

Love,

Krista
